The Petmatrix LIS (Laboratory Information System) module is the central hub for managing all in-house laboratory diagnostics. It enables veterinarians to order lab tests electronically during a consultation, provides the laboratory team with a clear worklist to manage incoming samples, and enables the efficient entry, validation, and finalization of results. The system follows standard laboratory workflows, from sample accessioning and processing to the final distribution and archiving of patient lab reports.
How orders reach RIS
During a consultation, you can order a lab test by clicking on the Order Items > LIS.

Select the test in Name and confirm (the price that auto-fills from the catalog).
The system uses color-coding to distinguish between test types in the list:
- Black Text: Indicates an in-house lab test that can be performed at your facility.
- Blue Text: Indicates an outsourced lab test that must be sent to an external laboratory.

After selecting the lab tests, they should appear under the lab option.

Now select the items and click the exist button.

Now to mark the order as collected or received click on the action buton.

Finally, click “Update” to save the status changes.

After collecting the sample, you should find the case in the “Collected & Received Samples” tab at the top.

To enter results for booked tests, click the “Test Result Entry” icon in the “Actions” column for a specific pet patient order.

The Test Result Entry window will open. Here you will find a list of pending tests, showing section, test name, sample type, reference ranges, units, verification status, and result fields.

After that, click Save & Close to save the test results.
